All 4 judges at Region 8's 2025 regional competition noted that Region 8 singers need to better understand energy. Master International Faculty Vickie is the expert on energy in our artform! The judges also noted that a need for us to understand tempo vs. pulse and more about musicality!  This workshop is packed to the brim with classes developed with our unique needs at the forefront! This workshop is for ALL singers! 

FOR SAI REGISTERED QUARTETS:
1.   
Only ONE person per quartet register/pay. Quartet registration discount $175 if all four attend. List quartet contact and quartet member names when registering.
2.    Quartets may elect to coach with regional faculty AND be drawn to win a coaching session with Vickie Maybury.
3.     Registration deadline for quartets who want to be coached is December 31, 2025. 


IMPORTANT! ALL SONGS PERFORMED FOR THE VERY LIGHT DOUBLE QUARTET CONTEST MUST BE CLEARED THROUGH THE SWEET ADELINES INTERNATIONAL SONG ASSESSMENT PROCESS. Complete the required Song Assessment Form (click HERE) and give it to the registrar at the workshop.

2.    Each DQ member registers individually.
3.    When you register, you will be asked to provide your DQ Name and the DQ Contact. Registrar will connect with contact for individual names of DQ singers.

7:00-7:45 Vickie M "Energy: The Life Force of Performance" Energy is an element common to all judging categories and high-level performances. This class will help learners understand internal & external energy and the impact it has on the individual’s and ensemble’s rehearsal and performance experience. Includes strategies for building ensemble connectiveness. 
8:00-8:45 Vickie M "Tempo/Pulse/Rhythmic Styles" What's the difference between tempo & pulse? How can we integrate tempo & pulse into our learning and rehearsal process? How do we keep a consistent tempo?  How do we decide what rhythmic style best fits the song? 
Saturday January 10, 2026:    
9:00 - 9:45 Vickie M "Musicality vs. Musicianship" Become a musical artist and transcend technique. Deepen your understanding of musical artistry and more fully grasp its impact on performance. 
10:00 - 10:45 Vickie M "Song Interpretation -- BBS Style, Study the Story. Why the story? Why the character?" Learn how to interpret songs in the ad lib style, as well as interpretation for uptunes so that tempo & character match. Explore the why of the story and the why of the character. 
11:00 - 11:45 All Open Quartet Coaching -- Regional Faculty  
Déjà Vu Quartet "The Art of Being Open -- That's Entertainment!" Creating a Fabulous Open Division or Entertainment Package with Déjà Vu quartet! Your Quartet or Chorus has made the exciting decision to perform in the Open Division. The possibilities - and ideas - are endless! Enthusiasm and creativity abound! But where do you begin, and how do you plan and prepare a package that is sure to please your audience? This class will teach you how to shape your group's artistic vision through focused, strategic decision-making in the many components that comprise a successful Open Division package.
Anna-Lisa Glad "You Never Get A Second Chance To Make A First Impression" with Anna-Lisa Glad  The 2025 regional panel judges noted that our quartets needed to identify and embrace a quartet identity. This class is designed to help singers and quartets refine their stage personality and performance for maximum positive audience connection.

9:00 - 11:00 Vickie M "Analytical Listening -- How to Get to the Next Level" This class will help performers learn to identify primary opportunities for improvement and introduce tools that help achieve the next performance level. 
11:00 - noon Vickie M Q/A -- judging, international happenings, etc.
